Ikea Website: UX Case Study

Objective, Challenges, & Outcome:

The objective of the company’s website redesign was to focus primarily on the consumer’s needs. Through research, I was able to gain a better understanding of what their requirements, needs, demands, motivations, and goals were for the company to create a better user experience.

To get started, I interviewed three individuals that best fit the company’s user demographic and created user personas to highlight their specific goals and frustrations when shopping online. After their needs were established, I had each individual walk me through their online shopping process from start to finish on the site. This allowed me to directly identify certain issues and gain a better knowledge on what needed to be improved upon.

After pinpointing where each user’s goals and frustrations were within the site I started to see common trends and was able to identify the issues and began to create solutions that would benefit both the user and the brand. I began to develop wireframes to demonstrate where some of these changes would occur. From there, I continued to design each individual page within the site to give it a more clean and organized look and feel.

My last step was to create an interactive prototype of my redesign which allowed me to test these changes with various test groups and continue to make improvements that would significantly benefit the brand and the overall user experience.
