Peloton Digital App: UI/UX Case Study & Redesign

Project Deliverable:

Peloton Digital App is an application that promotes fitness through its engaging workout videos equipped with virtual fitness instructors. First starting with a cycling bike, the introduction of a mobile application allows people to blend the experience of personalized training, great music, and comfort to a larger group of users.

With the need to stay active, I decided to take on the challenge of how can we encourage and enhance the user experience of the Peloton Digital App by expanding the community aspect. The goal would be to encourage Peloton users to exercise with their family, friends, and other community members, virtually, in order to create a richer workout experience that still has the community aspect as you would working out in a gym, with a trainer, or workout group. We also wanted to add a section in the application where the user can keep track of their personal goals and their health progress.

Approach:

  • Formulated and validated the hypothesis.

  • Conducted user interviews and usability testing on the current app to unveil unexpected pain points.

  • Focused on research results to create features that users really need.

  • Created hand draw sketches to hi-fi prototypes for iterative testing and modification based on the user’s feedback.

User Personas:

We created two personas, a late 20-year-old single male and a mid-40-year-old mother. After researching, many age groups and different demographics use the Peloton Digital App. We felt narrowing down to two individuals, single and married, with different job backgrounds, both with a busy schedule will show that we need to think of a simple and clean design that all users can interact with.

Final Prototype:

Personal Goals

We started with welcome questions to help identify and determine the member’s goals. This helps the user by creating a personalized experience where they can create goals, workouts, and view their accomplishments with their personalized home profile and progress-tracker.

Expanding your Circle (Group Meetup)

We introduce the idea of group meetups, Circle. Whether you are new to a city, visiting, or want that extra push from other members, this feature is helping the user expand their workout circle. The purpose is for the user to feel connected with other members all while doing so virtually and in person.
